Freightquote.com announced today that customers now have the opportunity to offset their freight shipping carbon footprint by supporting clean energy projects. Freightquote, an online freight transportation service, has partnered with TerraPass, the leading retailer of greenhouse gas reduction projects to offer their customers a reliable way to balance out their carbon emissions.
Customers have the opportunity to opt in and have an upcharge added to their shipping cost that goes towards TerraPass projects to offset a corresponding amount of CO2. These projects include energy produced by wind power, farm power such as dairy farm methane digesters, and landfill methane capture. Freightquote now gives customers a simple way to proactively volunteer and address the challenges of climate change.
Freightquote customers quote and setup various types of shipments through its online services. Customers now have the option to select the calculated TerraPass fee and add it to the total shipment price. The small fee is directly based on the mileage of the shipment and the pounds of carbon dioxide emissions that will be offset. This voluntary option will be presented to thousands of shippers every day.
"We are dedicated to proactively addressing and offsetting pollution created through freight shipping. This voluntary program offers an innovative way to allow our customers to collaborate with us and make a substantial impact. We are pleased to partner with TerraPass to support making freight shipping more carbon neutral." said Bill Goodwin, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
