How to ship: Freight shipping to different types of locations

Freightquote helps you ship to any type of location. Knowing what type of location you are shipping to is important to receive an accurate quote. If you aren't sure what type of location a place is, give us a call and we'll help you determine it.

Ship to a business

Businesses are the most common place to ship freight to. Freightquote defines a business as any active business that is zoned commercial or industrial and is open to the public during normal business hours.

Ship to a trade show

Shipments of exhibition paraphernalia, including exhibition booths or stalls, picked up or delivered to a tradeshow are subject to an additional charge. We recommend providing the booth number and tradeshow name when setting up a shipment. We recommend speaking with one of our professional courteous staff to assist you with your trade show shipment.

Ship to a residence

The term "Residence" refers to various places including:

  • Private residences, apartment complexes, and dormitories.
  • Businesses located at a private residence, farm, or ranch.
  • Businesses that are not open to the walk-in public during normal business hours.

Pickup and delivery service to residences will be made to the front door, back door, or inside the garage. Drivers must typically have access to street parking. Residential pickup service may require an additional day of transit.

Examples of limited access or residential locations:

  • camps
  • carnivals or fairs
  • colleges, schools, or prisons
  • construction sites
  • individual/mini storage units
  • mosques, synagogues, or churches

Limited access also includes commercial establishments not open to the walk-in public or where an employee is not available to assist with loading or unloading. This service will not apply for shipments from or to schools, colleges, or university bookstores with normal receiving hours and where an employee is readily available to assist with loading or unloading.
